Versioning of the Extensible Security Document Language
This document describes the version scheme used by the Extensible Security Document Language . version numbering The versioning number scheme for the Extensible Security Document Language consists of three fields, denoting the major version, the minor version, and the update version, respectively. For example, "Extensible Security Document Language 1.3.17" indicates major version 1 of the Extensible Security Document Language, minor version 3 of major version Extensible Security Document Language 1, and update version 17 of minor version Extensible Security Document Language 1.3. Formally, each new version of the Extensible Security Document Language supersedes all earlier versions. However, because of the differences in the ways major, minor, and update versions are documented, minor and update versions generally do not obsolete all of the documentation of the immediately prior versions of the standard. major version A major version represents significant additions to the language, including but not limited to major subset additions. minor version A minor version also represents significant additions to the language. It may include small or large additions to the language, subsets or other significant normative changes. update version An update version represents relatively small changes to the language, focusing on updates to the individual declarations and changes to elemental structure.
